The Friedenstein Stiftung Gotha looks after one of the largest museum locations in Central Germany: It combines a unique architectural ensemble (including Friedenstein Castle and the Ducal Museum) with a unique collection: a universal collection with over 1.1 million objects which sprouted from the cabinet of curiosities which the Dukes of Sachsen-Gotha had brought together.
The foundation is in the process of change: This is why there is the “Gotha transdigital” project, funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media with the help of ERDF funds. The Gotha transdigital project aims to develop the foundation into a digitally competent cultural institution and to open the collections for the digital space.
There are 24 experts who cooperate in the project. I am very pleased to be able to lead this team. I have experience with very different topics and people in a museum context. Digital offers us new opportunities to share the stories of the past.
